Official Eaton County Inmate Search
The official adult jail lookup is the Eaton County Sheriff's Office Police-to-Citizen Inmates catalog. It is a public web app for current Eaton County Jail custody records. The agency settings identify the public app as Eaton County Sheriff's Office - Police To Citizen, and the research file confirms agency ID 274. The catalog is dynamic, so a simple page scrape is not the same as the live roster. Search-result snippets and the public field model show roster cards can include a name, age, charges, charge description, status, docket number, bond type, and bond status when those fields are enabled.
Eaton County inmate records in the county roster are not statewide prison records. The adult jail holds people arrested in Eaton County, sentenced jail inmates, work-release inmates when a court allows it, and people waiting for transport to the Michigan Department of Corrections. Once a person is received by state prison, the Eaton County jail roster is no longer the main lookup tool. Federal custody, immigration detention, and state supervision each have separate locator systems.
Custody scope: The Eaton County jail roster is for adult county-jail custody. It is not a juvenile Youth Facility roster, a state prison locator, or a federal detainee index.
Use the Eaton County Roster
The Eaton County roster can be searched broadly by name or narrowed through advanced filters. A broad name search is useful when the spelling is uncertain. The advanced fields help when the person has a common last name, when only a charge is known, or when a recent arrest needs to be sorted near the top. The client model includes pagination and load-more behavior, with a default page size and a larger maximum result size handled inside the app.
- Open the official Police-to-Citizen Inmates catalog and start with the name that appears on the arrest paperwork, court notice, bond receipt, or citation.
- Use the visible search field first, then open the advanced search when the first pass returns too many results or no clear match.
- Add known filters such as first name, middle name, age, charge text, arrest date, race, or sex, then apply the search.
- Sort by arrest date when looking for a new booking, and open the result card when more details are available.
- If no Eaton County inmate record appears, call the jail or Records Division, then check MDOC OTIS, BOP, ICE ODLS, or Michigan VINE as the facts require.
Roster timing is not published as a fixed refresh rate. The safest reading is practical: check the online catalog first, then confirm with the jail or records staff if the arrest was recent, the name is spelled several ways, or the person may have been released or transferred.
Eaton County Roster Search Fields
The public search criteria endpoint for the Eaton County P2C app exposes the advanced search fields. Name and charge filters are text fields, age is numeric, arrest date is a date filter, and race and sex are list filters. The race list contains several agency-prefixed entries as well as plain race labels, which suggests the roster can receive coding from more than one contributing agency source.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Unspecified | Use the legal spelling if known, but try partial spelling when the exact form is uncertain. |
| First Name | Text | Unspecified | Useful for common surnames and for separating people with similar names. |
| Middle Name | Text | Unspecified | Helps narrow a match when the roster card shows full name detail. |
| Age | Number | Unspecified | Use with care because age changes and can be entered wrong at intake. |
| Charge | Text | Unspecified | Search by a charge word, but remember booking charges can differ from prosecutor-filed court charges. |
| Arrest Date | Date | Unspecified | The app uses arrest-date sorting and a date-time display setting. |
| Race | List | Unspecified | Options include Asian, Black, Hispanic, Indian(Native American), Unknown, and White variants. |
| Sex | List | Unspecified | Options shown by the endpoint are Male, Female, and Unknown. |
The Eaton County Records Division page is the local fallback when a roster search does not resolve a record. The page identifies the Records Division as the unit that processes and maintains criminal and non-criminal reports, answers general questions, and provides documents and reports to citizens.
That records route matters when a public Eaton County inmate record is incomplete, too recent to rely on, or no longer visible in the roster.
Eaton County Inmate Profile Fields
An Eaton County inmate profile is a custody record, not a full court docket. The public model can carry more data than the app chooses to display for each person. Some fields are controlled by agency settings, some depend on whether the information exists for that booking, and some should not be assumed public unless the roster actually shows them. Home address, for example, exists in the client model but the default display setting appears false in the research.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Full name and age | Name fields and age as shown on the public result card or profile. |
| Race, sex, height, and weight | Physical descriptors used by the jail and roster system when displayed. |
| Arrest date | The arrest or booking event tied to the custody record. |
| Booking or arresting agency | The agency that booked or arrested the person, if the setting is enabled. |
| Primary charge and description | The main booking charge and a plain charge description. |
| Charges | Repeating charge entries with status, docket number, bond type, bond amount, and bond status when present. |
| Court date | A future or listed court date if the roster receives that data. |
| Release fields | Release date, reason, or entries if enabled and applicable. |
| Mugshot or image | An image route exists when images are enabled and an image ID is available. |
Booking charges should be read as arrest-side data. Court filings can later add, reduce, dismiss, or amend charges. For booking photos tied to the roster image field, the Eaton County jail mugshots page explains what is known about public display and records requests.
Eaton County Records Access Chain
When an Eaton County jail record is not visible online, the next channel depends on the question. A custody-status question can go to the jail or sheriff's main phone. A copy request for a booking record, incident report, or booking photo should go through Records or the FOIA process. A victim notification need is better handled by Michigan VINE, which is built for custody alerts rather than a single roster lookup.
| Need | Best Channel | Local Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Current adult jail custody | P2C roster, jail phone, or in-person records inquiry | Eaton County Jail is the adult county facility. |
| Booking record or report copy | Records Division or written FOIA request | FOIA requests may be mailed, emailed, faxed, or submitted in person. |
| State prison or supervision | MDOC OTIS | OTIS covers state prisoners, parolees, and probationers within MDOC scope, not county jail-only inmates. |
| Federal custody | BOP inmate locator | Use BOP for federal inmates from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | Use the ICE detainee locator for immigration custody questions. |
| Custody notification | Michigan VINE | Use VINE for notification needs rather than a one-time name search. |
Eaton County did not publish a confirmed Eaton-only app roster in the research. Michigan Sheriff Connect exists as a statewide sheriff app, but no Eaton County app-only inmate roster, warrant search, or most-wanted list was confirmed. The official local lookup remains the P2C web app.
Eaton County Jail Facilities
Eaton County has two detention facilities in the facility map, but they serve different populations. The Eaton County Jail is the adult jail used for the public roster. The Eaton County Youth Facility is a separate juvenile facility tied to juvenile and family court processes, and adult roster pages should not imply that youth residents appear in public P2C inmate records.

Eaton County Booking Terms
Booking is the jail intake event after an arrest. In Eaton County, the research supports an intake path in which jail staff identify the person, accept arrest paperwork, search and inventory property, complete booking data, screen for medical or mental-health needs, and assign classification and housing. Classification means the jail's assessment of housing and security needs. Remand means a court has returned a person to custody. A detainer is another agency's hold or request that can block release.
- Bond
- Money or court-set conditions used to secure release while the case is pending.
- Personal recognizance
- Release on a promise to appear, if the court grants it.
- No-bond hold
- A custody status where payment alone will not release the person.
- Work release
- A court or probation controlled program that lets eligible sentenced inmates leave for work and return to jail.
- MDOC
- The Michigan Department of Corrections, which handles state prison and state supervision records.
Michigan law also helps explain why arrest data can move beyond the jail. MCL 28.243 requires biometric data for many felony and serious misdemeanor arrests and includes removal or destruction provisions after certain no-charge, dismissal, not-guilty, or juvenile nonauthorization outcomes. Those rules do not turn the jail roster into a full criminal-history report.
Eaton County Inmate Visit Rules
Eaton County Jail uses SmartInmate and Smart Communications for video visitation and phone service. The county visitation page says the SmartInmate system began January 30, 2024. The 2026 Inmate Family Guide is the better current source for schedule details because the FAQ page has an older or alternate schedule. All personal visits are video visits, and on-site visits must be scheduled in advance.
| Visit Type | Schedule | Length and Limits | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| On-site video | Monday-Thursday, 9:00-10:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m., except county holidays | 30 minutes; one on-site visit per inmate per week | Schedule 24 hours ahead through SmartInmate or the lobby kiosk. |
| Remote video | Daily, 8:00 a.m.-10:45 p.m. | 15 or 30 minute options | Provider fee applies; visitor approval requires photo ID image and selfie. |
| Attorney or legal visits | Not published in the reviewed sources | Verify with the jail or court | Do not rely on public social-visit rules for legal visits. |
Personal mail is not sent straight to the Charlotte jail. It goes to the Smart Communications mail processing center in Seminole, Florida, addressed with the inmate name and ID. Newspaper subscriptions are the main exception and go to the jail's physical address. Inmate trust money orders go to the Eaton County Jail money order address with the inmate name.
Eaton County Inmate Funds
The jail's money rules split inmate trust deposits from court-purpose money. The 2026 guide directs bond, restitution, fines, and costs through the Eaton County Courthouse during business hours, with the receipt brought to the Jail Bond Lobby. The guide gives a local wayfinding detail for bond after hours: follow the sidewalk to the right of the sheriff's main entrance, pass the flagpole, use the door marked with a large number 3, and press the intercom.
| Item | Eaton County Rule |
